Staircase FAQs
Clear answers on payment, design, installation and project planning for bespoke staircases.
Payment
Key points on deposits, quote validity and payment stages.
How do stage payments work?
Our standard payment structure is 10% on order, 40% on drawing approval before fabrication, and 50% before delivery or installation. We confirm this clearly in your quotation.
How long is my quote valid?
Quotes are usually valid for 30 days from issue unless stated otherwise. VAT treatment is shown on the quotation document.
Do you charge interest or storage if dates slip?
If dates move significantly after manufacture is scheduled, additional storage, re-delivery or finance charges can apply. We always discuss this before action is taken.
When does risk pass to me?
Risk normally passes at delivery or collection. Ownership transfers once full payment has been received.
Installation
How installation works, what your site needs, and where responsibilities sit.
What installation options do you offer?
We offer managed installation and supported install routes. The best option depends on your site, programme and whether your builder is handling any elements directly.
What site conditions do you need on the day?
The site should be safe, accessible and ready for staircase works, with clear access, power and suitable working conditions. We confirm practical requirements in advance.
What about hidden services and dust control?
Please tell us early about hidden pipes, cables or other services near fixing zones. Early information helps prevent delays and avoids unnecessary rework.
Can a competent builder self-install?
Yes, on suitable staircase types a competent builder can install with our drawings and guidance. We advise what level of support is appropriate for your project.
Design
Technical standards, structural inputs and what we need before manufacture.
Do you design to UK Building Regulations ?
We design and manufacture in line with relevant UK standards and agreed project requirements. Final statutory approvals remain with the project team and local authority route.
What design loads do you allow for?
Standard load assumptions are set for domestic use unless a different project brief is agreed. If your project needs higher loading, we include that in the specification.
Who provides structural calculations and fixings to the building?
Project-specific structural checks for the host building and fixing interfaces are normally provided by the project structural engineer or appointed design team.
What do you need before you draw and fabricate?
Before manufacture, we need confirmed survey information, agreed technical drawings and written approval to proceed.
